With his new business Fixt Water, Ian is practicing a high degree of patience. He is confident that his product will deliver the success he is after. Taking this long view approach affords Ian the time to put all the pieces in place so when the product catches on in the marketplace, he will be ready.
As small businesses rise and fall one thing is constant; challenges along the way. The most careful and thought out plan for success will face hurdles of all shapes and sizes. What sets the successful innovators apart from the pack? Entrepreneur Ian Stanley finds that maintaining a long view approach grants him the vision to handle each bump along the way. It’s fascinating to hear what people wanted to be when they were younger. What experiences and interests would shape who they become as an adult? Ian Stanley grew up with the narrative since age five from his parents that he would win the Wimbledon Championship in tennis. But Ian’s true passion was creating fun and entertaining videos with his friends. Growing up with the pressure and expectations from his parents impacted the decisions Ian made as he headed off to college. Ian says tennis would bring out the worst in him – he would make John McEnroe look like a Teletubbie! He ended up playing tennis in college but now he avoids the sport altogether. Ian decided that it was necessary for him to follow what brought him joy regardless of the expectations of others. This decision changed the direction of his life. Listen to more of Ian’s journey – the ups, and downs on this episode of Inspired Insider.
