Derek Johnson is a serial entrepreneur, named by BusinessWeek as one of the top 25 under 25 entrepreneurs in the United States. With his experience at Tatango, Derek has been invited to speak nationally about mobile, entrepreneurship and marketing. Derek is an alumnus of the University of Houston Wolff Center for Entrepreneurship.
He started Tatango in 2007 out of his dorm room to help his friend communicate with her sorority. He came up with the idea on how to communicate with large groups of people via text message and has since sent over 400,000 SMS campaigns on behalf of their customers. Tatango has since grown to become one of the industry leaders in the mobile marketing space.
Tatango is a mobile group communication service that allows users to send messages to a group of people through SMS and voice messaging. Tatango has over 400,000 members sending five to six million text messages a month.
