In this episode…
A webinar can do more than educate an audience — it can create trust, move prospects closer to a decision, and open the door to meaningful sales conversations. But what separates a webinar that simply shares information from one that consistently gets qualified people to book calls?
Jon Schumacher, a webinar strategist who has helped thousands of professionals improve their online presentations, says the key is building a call-booking webinar that pre-sells, persuades, and earns trust before the call to action. He highlights the importance of framing the opportunity around audience desires, difficulties, and discovery before addressing objections. Instead of overwhelming prospects with information or rushing into a pitch, Jon recommends using contrast content, value-added registration bonuses, and a clear next step that feels logical and helpful. The result is a webinar experience that gives high-value prospects enough clarity and confidence to schedule a conversation.
In this episode of the Inspired Insider Podcast, Dr. Jeremy Weisz sits down with Jon Schumacher, Head Webinar Guy at JonSchumacher.com, to discuss how to build webinars that convert trust into sales calls. Jon breaks down webinar promotion, registration bonuses, the three D’s framework, objection handling, and replay follow-up. He also shares how AI agents help create webinar and sales assets.

Action steps:
- Use webinars to build trust before pitching: Pre-selling and persuading through a strategic presentation helps prospects feel more confident booking a sales conversation.
- Promote webinars through warm channels: Leveraging email lists, LinkedIn networks, and partnerships can generate more qualified registrations from people who already have some connection to you.
- Offer a registration bonus: Providing a book, PDF, report, or other useful asset can increase sign-ups and give prospects another reason to engage with your expertise.
- Frame the opportunity before teaching: Addressing audience desires, difficulties, and discoveries creates context so prospects understand why your approach matters.
- Position the call as a valuable next step: Name the call, explain its benefits, and add useful resources to increase booked calls without making the webinar feel overly salesy.

Episode Transcript
Intro: 00:15
You are listening to Inspired Insider with your host, Dr. Jeremy Weisz.
Dr. Jeremy Weisz: 00:22
Dr. Jeremy Weisz here, Founder of InspiredInsider.com, where I talk with inspirational entrepreneurs and leaders today is no different. I have Jon Schumacher. You can check them out at JonSchumacher.com and he is an expert at webinars. And Jon, before I formally introduce you, I always like to point out other episodes of the podcast people should check out. Jon works with a lot of different professionals, especially ones with a high client lifetime value, specifically people in M&A. It could be financial advisors. So I was trying to think, Jon, who are some of the interesting people kind of in the M&A world that I’ve had on the podcast?
Todd Taskey was a great one. He helps pair agencies with private equity, right? And he’s got the Second Bite Podcast. And so, you know, by doing that, sometimes people sell, you know, their business or make more on the second bite than they do on the first. When they sell the private equity, they roll some equity in and they get more on the second bite when the private equity sells. Super interesting again, talking about valuations in the market. And you know, a lot of those type of things. Another one was Adam Coffey. Adam Coffey has a book and it’s called the Private Equity Playbook. And I think he’s got like the number one and number two, best selling books within that category or key words or whatever it is, I don’t know. So that was super interesting. He’s been doing it for many years and he kind of cut his teeth, Jon, on doing it himself before obviously, he coaches consults, you know, and wrote a book on it. Same thing with Seth Deutsch as well, is helping a lot of different types of businesses, but law firms actually kind of roll up and sell the private equity. So those are fascinating really for me, a lot of learnings there in business.
And this episode is brought to you by Rise25. At Rise25, we help businesses connect to their dream relationships and partnerships. We do that in a few ways. One, we’re an easy button for a company to launch and run a podcast. We do the strategy, accountability, and the full execution production. Number two, we’re an easy button for companies gifting. So, you know, staying top of mind. It could be clients, partners, prospects, it could be even staff from a culture perspective. You just send us a list, we’ll do everything else. And Jon, it’s not like we send like a mug with someone’s logo on it. We actually, I like getting food, so we send food. So think sending something 3 to 4 every something every 3 to 4 months for 4 to 5 years in. That’s just a touch point for me to say, I appreciate you. I’m thinking about you.
So, you know, for me, the number one thing in my life is relationships. And I always look at ways I can give to those relationships. And I found no better way to profile them on my podcast and send them sweet treats in the mail. So check out Rise25.com. Email [email protected].
I’ve known Jon for a long time. He’s a really smart entrepreneur webinar strategist. He builds premium webinar sales systems for coaches, consultants, financial advisors, B2B companies. And, you know, he’s advised everyone from Shark Tank startups to billion dollar corporations. Helped over, you know, 2800 professionals, trained them millions of dollars in client sales generated and really specializes in helping experts turn their knowledge into a highly profitable webinar presentation that gets them more conversations, conversions. So Jon, thanks for joining me.
Jon Schumacher: 03:53
Jeremy, appreciate you. You’re always really good at your relationships. You’re always sending me these nice texts and everything like that. So you’re a real pro when it comes to doing, eating your own dog food, as you say. Right. So I appreciate you having me and appreciate you having me on your show.
Dr. Jeremy Weisz: 04:08
I love it and we’re going to dig in and we were talking before you record like we’re going to get into the nitty gritty because really what I think any business want, they want to get in front of people. They want to have a conversation, one too many conversations that leads to more incoming calls that leads to more conversions for their business, essentially. And so I know you’ve really constructed and perfected this framework over more than a decade at this point. And so I want to just start there, this call booking webinar framework. So why don’t you tell people about the call booking webinar and what that means?
Jon Schumacher: 04:47
Yeah. So call booking webinar is in essence a presentation, a strategically put together presentation designed not to have you pitch something at the end, but to pre-sell, persuade, build trust and then allow people from your network could be from your email list, your LinkedIn network, your referral partners, whatever, send them, give them something to send traffic to, right? Or to gather up a group of potential buyers for your services, build trust, say the right things in the right order, and then direct them to book a call with you at the end to get them on your calendar to talk about working together. So this could be, again, for financial advisors, consulting companies, people who have high client lifetime values, and those relationships matter and the trust building matters.
And they can do that not just on a referral roller coaster sort of avenue, but actually, you know, have a systematic way of being proactive in generating leads in a one to many fashion. So that’s sort of what I mean when I say a call booking webinar system, you know, you got the emails to promote it, you got the presentation to build that connection and trust. You got your call to action in order to, you know, get people on the calendar. And then there’s a follow up process with that as well. So happy to take this where you want. I can go through specifically the presentation that I know a lot of people are curious about.
Dr. Jeremy Weisz: 06:10
Yeah, let’s do that. You know, it’s like, what I want to talk about is there’s a lot of pieces in this. And even within those pieces, like we talk about even before they get on. So I want to talk about mistakes people make, like even before you have to get them on the webinar. Then once you get them on the webinar, you have to have all the elements of a webinar. And then once you have that, you have all these post elements, you know, those post element things as well.
So I wanted to kind of start with the pre stuff because we could jump right into the webinar itself, but like, I know people make lots of mistakes just getting people on. I know you have one person, you know, that we were talking about with the registration volume itself. So I don’t know if you want to start there, but I want to start before we even get them on the webinar.
Jon Schumacher: 06:53
Yeah. So would it be helpful to show your audience kind of some high level ways of doing that? And then I can show you a trick, if you will. It’s not really a trick, but it’s a pillar strategy for increasing the number of people who hit your registration page and actually register. Would that be helpful? Cool. So as far as and then I’ll, I assume it’s okay if I screen share as well here. Yeah. Go ahead. During the call. So I’ll do that in a second.
But as far as like the big picture of getting people to your presentation. Most of the people I work with, we either use their email audience. So I have a five part email sequence that we start promoting to. Five emails starting about a week ahead of the webinar. You don’t want to promote it too early or you tend to hurt your attendance in most industries, 7 to 10 days as a promotional window to your list or and also this applies to your LinkedIn network. Maybe you start promoting your webinar via LinkedIn events or those kind of things. But yeah, 7 to 10 day window. Usually I send five emails. Some people are like, whoa, that’s more emails than I send. Yeah. But it works very effectively to let people know about it because not everybody opens every email. So email, LinkedIn is a really good source for a lot of clients. A lot of them have built a network on there. They’re just not ever giving them a reason to come and experience them. Right? To build that trust in a virtual environment like that.
So those are the main things. I’m also a big fan of partnerships and collaborations. I know you are as well. That’s sort of your jam, and I’ve done this for over a decade. Basically, I collaborate with other people. Many people are just a single degree or even a direct connection away from having someone who might promote their presentation for them. And they can either, you know, give them a cut of any commissions that are generated or just do some kind of promotional swap. You know, you promote them, they promote you, or they just like you, some people in your network. Oh my gosh, right. They just like you and want to support you and they’re willing to share your webinar, you know, with their database, right, with their audience.
So those are my favorite ways to get people to attend and register for a webinar. You can run ads, you can do those kinds of things. If you have a budget, you can certainly test that. But that can add up fairly quickly. Those people don’t quite know you as well. So for most of my clients, I’m looking for them to have an email list or a LinkedIn network or some built in level of distribution that they maybe are under monetizing. Bring in the partnership strategy as well. That tends to be my bread and butter for getting registrations. Okay.
And it doesn’t have to be anything complicated. You could set up something like Zoom, like we’re on right now, like Zoom meeting, you know, you can host a webinar on that? That’s more than fine. I’m going to quickly share my screen here. Let me pull this up and let’s make sure I can share my screen. All right. Can you see this okay, Jeremy? Registration coming in.
Dr. Jeremy Weisz: 09:52
This is great. Yeah. Let’s break it down.
Jon Schumacher: 09:54
So this is a partner of mine I collaborate with. His name is Paul. He runs a book publishing company, and he was doing webinars, getting decent results again to his list, to his partners, to his LinkedIn network. You know, those were sort of his organic channels. But what I was seeing in his numbers was that his registration numbers were kind of low, considering the number, the amount of promotion that he was doing. He was just sending people basically from those things to a Zoom page. And his whole hook was just book marketing secrets.
Now, I would probably tweak his hook here a little bit more if I, if he, if I was advising him again on this page, but he went from basically just using a standard here, come book my webinar on a Zoom page to this. And the real thing that he did, if you have a book or a PDF is, is to incentivize the registration. So not only do people register for your webinar to come to a webinar, but you can give them a tangible asset. Could be a news report or an ebook or a book that you’ve published. And then once people register, you give that to them on the confirmation page.
I can tell you, Jeremy, it seems simple, but not enough people do it. I will never.
Dr. Jeremy Weisz: 11:06
I love it. A registration bonus. Why not? Yeah.
Jon Schumacher: 11:09
I will never do another like, intentional webinar again where I don’t have some kind of a PDF or a book or an ebook or something that I give people as an incentive to sign up. He saw a and there’s still some critiques on this page, but he saw a 50% increase in his registration numbers by talking not only about the webinar, but the eBook and his email copy, as well as when they hit his landing page. Now, this could still use some optimization, but you know, this is Paul’s page here. Again, I’ve seen this with multiple partners because I do a lot of webinars both myself or with other people. And I see their numbers.
If you incentivize people, and many of your listeners probably have a book. They have some authority, some kind of authority content that they could use in conjunction with their web classes and their in their call booking webinars makes a massive difference in trying to get more people to actually register. Plus, it’s a little bit of a Trojan horse, if you will, because now even if they don’t come and buy right away, they have your book, they have your material, right that they can look at. And we all, you and I both know that this, you know, high trust, high dollar industry, it’s all about trust building. And sometimes people aren’t ready to just buy now, right? You want to leave them with a good experience, leave them with some materials so that now that they’re in your pipeline, they can come back later.
So there’s a couple of reasons to do that. But this just as a tangible example there is working is a, is a is a, I guess you’d call it a pro tip. And some people know this. Most people don’t do it. I’ll tell you that for certain. If you want. One of the best ways to bump your registration numbers is to do what I just said there. So.
Dr. Jeremy Weisz: 12:49
And by the way, I just want to piggyback on that for a second, Jon, because, you know, people buy sometimes just strictly for a bonus, right? People obviously we’re talking about a free signing up, but like anything that someone could do to incentivize so that that goes, let’s say you’re never going to do a webinar in your life, right? But what Jon just talked about, you can use, even if you’re selling something, right? Like what other incentives, bonuses can really add value to that, right? And specifically, like you’re still selling a registration, even though it’s free, like you have to sell it as if someone’s paying for it. And what better than, you know to include bonuses.
